Source: Library of Congress
Mr. José C. Santana, originally from Puerto Rico, was a prominent cigar maker in Roscoe, Chicago. The sequence shows Santana speaking in his kitchen, presenting his workshop, and hand-rolling cigars. Renowned for his hand-rolling skill, Santana’s workshop became a site of study for traditional cigar-making practices. Mr. José Santana’s workshop was documented as part of research for a dissertation on cigar makers and traditional cigar-making practices.
