T-2 McNeil River Project
U.S.A. | 1960
Source: Internet Archive
Photograph documenting fieldwork for the McNeil River Project in Alaska, produced by the U.S. Bureau of Land Management in 1963. The image shows a surveyor operating a (T-2) theodolite to measure snowpack and terrain as part of federal land-mapping efforts. Surveying instruments such as the Wild T-2 marked a revolution in the field, combining precision and portability to enable large-scale surveying projects prior to digital and satellite-based systems.
